The U.S. Embassy alerts U.S. citizens that on September 15, 2012, the Department of State ordered the departure of all dependents of U.S. direct hire personnel and all non-emergency U.S. government personnel from Sudan, following the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum. The airport in Khartoum is open and commercial service is available. The Embassy is closed for all Consular Services until further notice.

The U.S. Embassy alerts all U.S. citizens that the Department of State has ordered the departure of all non-emergency U.S. government personnel from Tunisia following the attack on the U.S. Embassy. The airport in Tunis is open and U.S. citizens are encouraged to depart by commercial air.

On Thursday and Friday (September 13-14), demonstrators protested in front of or near the U.S. Embassy in Muscat. There have been additional calls for demonstrations today through Monday. Thus far, all demonstrations have remained peaceful. Protests may also occur in Salalah, Sohar, Nizwa or other areas in Oman during the same timeframe. Embassy Muscat is carefully monitoring the current security situation and will update U.S. citizens accordingly.

In Adana, a planned anti-American march/protest is occurring right now at Inonu Park, Saturday afternoon, September 15. In Istanbul, there will be a planned anti-American march/protest today, Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 2:30 pm. In Istanbul, the march will commence immediately following afternoon prayers from Fatih Mosque and will proceed to Sarachane Square, where the municipal building is located.
