RNC Launches "PromiseGap.com"

WASHINGTON - The Republican National Committee launches "PromiseGap.com" highlighting the gap between what Barack Obama promised the American people and what he actually delivered. On a broad range of issues from keeping unemployment below 8 percent to cutting the deficit in half by the end of his first term, President Obama has failed to meet the standards by which he wanted voters to judge his presidency.

"Barack Obama promised the American people a lot of things that he hasn't come close to fulfilling," said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. "He promised that his nearly trillion dollar stimulus plan would reduce the unemployment to nearly 5.6 percent by today, yet it has been above 8 percent for 40 months. President Obama said he would cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term, but there have been four straight years of trillion dollar deficits.

"On issue after issue, President Obama made very specific promises but failed to deliver. So today, there is a clear, quantifiable gap between the promises he made to the middle class and the results of his policies. The president said he wanted voters to hold him accountable, so, after four years of failing to meet the standards he set for himself, the American people will do just that in November."
