CONSTITUTIONAL LAW ALLIANCE

I believe that we have reached a critical stage in our country’s history. Despite the outcries of the American people, the landslide loss of Democrat seats in the House of Representatives last November, and the President’s plunging poll numbers, Obama and the progressives continue to drive our country into the abyss of socialism. The recent debt limit bill is a prime example. The debt limit was raised and within 48 hours Obama had managed to spend a staggering $239 billion of the increase.

The cuts in spending in the bill are limited, but more cuts are to be added by the so called “super committee” made up of 12 members of Congress, three Republican house members and three Republican senators, with the same number of Democrats. However, I believe that the way this committee is set up violates Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution that establishes the authority and powers of Congress.

This committee is charged with finding over $1 trillion in additional spending cuts that will be presented to both the house and senate in the form of a bill that cannot be amended. It could just be voted on as is. This is basically a transfer of extraordinary powers from the 535 members of Congress elected by the people of the United States to 12 people appointed by the congressional leadership. This is certainly not what our founding fathers had in mind.

In addition, if this committee fails to reach an agreement on the cuts there are automatic triggers built in that will cause automatic spending cuts that will primarily affect our military strength. The Pentagon will be forced to cut an additional $500 billion over and above the $400 billion that it is already having to cut from its budget over the next few years. This will not only adversely affect the pay and benefits of our active-duty military, but also our veterans. It will also severely impact our national security during the time when we are fighting three wars.

Our Constitution has been ignored for too long and our rights are being lost at an alarming rate. It's time for every American to wake up and understand what is happening here, and I am dedicating myself to help that occur.   

I've mentioned several times in my blog and on my radio show that I had a new project in the works. That project has now been launched, and is a nonprofit Corporation called The Constitutional Law Alliance (CLA). Its purpose is to be educational, and proactive in teaching Americans about the constitution and the threats to it and our freedom.

The first one listed is a priority project that I hope to complete within the next 4 to 6 weeks. It is a booklet on the Constitution that will have every article and amendment listed with comments about what that section of the Constitution really means. It will help people understand better the struggle we are facing and how important it is that we win. It will also be distributed to as many students as possible to counteract the fact that many are not being taught about the Constitution.

            I am also looking for assistance from attorneys, Constitutional scholars, legal professionals, and others who can volunteer some time to help with this and other projects. I will be devoting the vast majority of my time to this endeavor and my constitutional law blog. I have already put considerable time and money into this and more will be required. For example, I will need help paying the cost of publishing the booklet, and we hope to generate funds to allow us to distribute it to students for a reduced price or even for free.
