Arizona House of Representatives ramps up building
PHOENIX — The Arizona House of Representatives is spending more money to renovate its building.
The House has already spent over $325,000 on renovations in the past year and will now spend another $642,000.
The Arizona Capitol Times reports (http://bit.ly/1NmWYNq ) the new expenses will go toward carpeting on the first, second and third levels of the building, in addition to the House floor and members’ lounge. The new carpet replaces one that was installed just last year to the tune of $50,000. The House said that carpet was defective.
This spring, House speaker David Gowan cancelled plans for a $2 million overhaul of the House basement that many members opposed.
