Former GOP Maricopa County Attorney calls Rotellini “uniquely qualified”

PHOENIX—Former Maricopa County Attorney Richard M. Romley, a Republican, has joined a growing list of supporters to endorse Felecia Rotellini for Attorney General.  Romley issued a statement saying he is proud to support Rotellini and enthusiastically endorses her candidacy:

“Her extensive experience as an Assistant Attorney General prosecuting complex criminal cases has proven that she is a dedicated, experienced, tough and ethical prosecutor.  She is uniquely qualified and will protect the interests of all citizens from those that would prey upon us. She has shown that she is an advocate on behalf of victims of crime and the most vulnerable in our community, our children and seniors.

Additionally, as an Assistant Attorney General handling civil matters and as the Director of the Department of Financial Institutions, Felecia has proven that she will defend Arizona and its citizens and will not be influenced by special interest groups.

One may ask, “Why is Richard Romley, a lifelong Republican and officeholder, supporting Felecia Rotellini?”  It is because I believe that partisanship has no place in law enforcement. What is important is that we elect an Attorney General we can be proud of and who will not allow a personal or political agenda to impact decision making.  I also believe that it is time to end ideological saber rattling, mudslinging and empty rhetoric and to think of what is good for our State.  Felecia Rotellini is good for our State and whom we need during these difficult times.

I urge all Arizonians to join with me and Vote for Felecia Rotellini. She will restore dignity to the Attorney General’s Office, which it so richly deserves, and will serve our State well.”

 Romley served as Maricopa County Attorney from 1989-2004 and again in 2010.  During his distinguished career, Romley received more than 100 awards and honors.
