The endorsement gives Reagan a boost in the three-candidate Republican field for the state's top election post. She's running against state Rep. Justin Pierce and businessman Wil Cardon in the Aug. 26 Republican primary. Brewer made a rare public appearance to announce her support for the 12-year legislative veteran. Reagan is the current chairman of the state Senate's Elections Committee. She has already picked up the endorsement of two other former female secretaries of state: Betsey Bayless and Jane Hull. Like Brewer, Hull went on to become governor when the seat was vacated. The Secretary of State is next in line to governor in the state's succession order. Brewer was in her second term as Secretary of State when then-Gov. Janet Napolitano resigned to serve as U.S. Homeland Security secretary in the Obama administration. Source
