Michael W. Cutler, Senior Special Agent, INS (Ret.)
If the title of
my commentary today has caused you to think that I am writing about the U.S. /
Mexican border and how to secure it, you are wrong.
Sometimes
words can have multiple meanings.
Here is how the
dictionary included in the software package for my MacBook laptop computer
defines the term, fence:
fence |fens|
noun
1 a barrier, railing, or other upright structure, typically of wood
or wire, enclosing an area of ground to mark a boundary, control access, or
prevent escape.
• a large upright obstacle used in equestrian jumping events.
• a guard or guide on a plane, saw, or other tool.
2 informal a person
who deals in stolen goods.
We have heard endless discussions about
the fence as described in the first definition for the term fence. The debate continues on and the “Eight
Gangsters” who are pushing “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” would have
Americans believe that all that we need to consider is how to secure the U.S.
/Mexican border. That border is anything
but secure, but the issue of that fence is comparable to a wing on an
airplane. Without its wing, an airplane
will not fly, but a wing by itself goes absolutely nowhere!
So, rather than engage in the discussion
about a fence on the border, my commentary today will focus on the second
definition of the word “Fence” (a person who deals in stolen goods).
The double meaning for that term was
just too tempting to pass up!
I can easily come up with eight fences-
these are the “Gang of Eight” who have cobbled together “Comprehensive
Immigration Reform.” They and those who
support them, are attempting to sell the future of American citizens and their
children. They are selling the American
Dream that used to be considered the birthright of every American child. If enacted it would do nothing to enforce the
immigration laws but enable many more foreign workers to legally enter the
United States and take jobs American workers who are desperate to support
themselves and their families need.
It would convince people from around
the world that violating America's immigration laws is not a big deal and will
ultimately result in being rewarded.
The problem is that they don't own that
which they are selling! They are attempting
to steal the futures of the citizens of our country and profit from that
sale! That is what makes them fences-
they are fencing America's national security and they are fencing the
well-being of Americans- but these precious commodities are not their's to
sell.
However, at the rate that the
administration is going- perhaps the time has come for the creation of a new
cabinet position- that of America's Auctioneer!
Having raised the issue of the American
Dream, let's take a moment to consider the “DREAM Act” which failed to pass the
legislative process has, nevertheless, been mostly implemented by executive
caveat. Who needs laws when the
Executive Branch can simply have various agencies under its command issue
operating instructions and Executive Orders that have the force of law without
having to go through the pesky legislative process mandated by that nuisance,
the Constitution of the United States of America that has been trampled and all
too often, has come to represent little more than a “speed bump” to the whims
of the administration in carrying out its agenda.
It is more than a bit ironic that the
DREAM Act is an acronym for “Development, Relief, and Education
for Alien Minors” includes the term “Alien” even though the
advocates for Comprehensive Immigration Reform eagerly skewer anyone who would
dare use the term alien to describe an person who is not a citizen or national
of the United States! (You should know
that the Immigration and Nationality Act actually defines the term “Alien” with
just that definition that I included above!)
There is no insult is in that term (alien) or
in its definition, only clarity. Clarity is something that the immigration
anarchists are adamant about avoiding.
In point of fact, the unknown millions of illegal
aliens currently living in the United States are hardly hiding in “the
shadows.” Think of how many illegal
aliens show up to openly demonstrate on public streets across America each May
to demand that they be given lawful status in the United States! I guess this would qualify as yet another
example and form of “Hiding in plain sight!”
Clearly they are not hiding in the shadows-
what is being kept in the shadows is the truth about the effective enforcement
of the immigration laws and its true importance for America and Americans.
It was so important for the Orwellian
wordsmiths among the immigration anarchists that a sympathetic picture be
created where illegal aliens are concerned that they crafted legislation that
incorporated the “A” word!
On June 17, 2012, just two days after
President Obama stood before the microphones and cameras in a White House Rose
Garden press conference and declared that he would, under the guise of
“Prosecutorial Discretion” provide hundreds of thousands, or more likely,
millions of illegal aliens with employment authorization, Fox News Latino
posted my commentary in which I took on the claims made by the President.
My Op-Ed was entitled:
Here is an excerpt from my article:
Additionally, it is unfathomable how
providing employment authorization to hundreds of thousands if not millions of
heretofore illegal aliens is helpful to millions of American workers who are
unemployed or underemployed and seeking gainful employment so that they can
support themselves and their families.
This is especially impossible to
understand given the fact that record numbers of homes have been lost to
foreclosure and record numbers of Americans now live below the poverty line.
Providing employment authorization to these huge numbers of illegal aliens is
the equivalent of having lots more kids enter a room where the game of “Musical
Chairs” is being played, but without providing more chairs for the players.
Where joblessness is concerned,
however, we are not talking about a childhood game but the life and death
challenges being confronted by millions of American families of every race,
religion and ethnicity.
We are often told that the President's
action will be favored by Latino voters. It is remarkable that so many
journalists claim to be concerned about “racial profiling.” Yet these same
journalists are quick to talk about the mythical “Latino voters.” Anyone who
believes that any group of ethnic voters such as “Latino voters,” “Black
voters” or “Jewish voters” will vote the same way as others of the same
ethnicity or religion is, in my opinion, guilty of an insidious form of
profiling.
In
my commentary for the Fox News Latino website I predicted that there would be
no face-to-face interviews where the applicants for participation in this
dangerous and wrong-headed program. As
it turned out, my fears were valid. They
are not conducting face-to-face interviews and yet these undocumented aliens
now have official documents- identity documents issued by USCIS even though
there is little if anything being done to verify any of the information
contained in their applications.
According to to a recent Washington Times article, the approval rate for
these applications is in excess of 99%.
It
must be also noted that the 9/11 Commission, to which I provided testimony,
identified immigration fraud as the embedding tactic of choice for the majority
of terrorists they were able to identify as being connected to the September
11, 2001 terrorist attacks in in other cases involving international terrorists
who were in the United States in the decade prior to the 9/11 attacks.
Subsequent
terror attacks have also involved aliens who gamed the immigration benefits
program.
On
April 28, 2013 CAPS (Californians for Population Stabilization) posted my
commentary about the lack of integrity to the immigration benefits program.
My
commentary was entitled:
America's immigration laws were enacted to
protect innocent lives and the jobs of American workers. The propaganda is that the immigration system
is broken. What is broken is that the
laws already on the books are not being enforced. Unlike the laws of nature which are
immutable, man's laws must be enforced or they become irrelevant. The administration made certain to not
enforce these laws to be able to claim that the system does not work and now
seeks to rewrite the laws to achieve the goals of legalizing unknown millions
of illegal aliens whose identities and background cannot and will not be
verified, thereby posing an imminent threat to national security and public
safety and admitting a human tsunami of foreign workers who will offer unfair
competition to American workers.
Comprehensive Immigration Reform
closely follows the recommendations of Alan Greenspan, the former Chairman of
the Federal Reserve Bank who, on April 30, 2009, testified before Chuck
Schumer's U.S. Senate’s
Subcommittee on Immigration, at a hearing on the topic:
Among the witnesses called to testify
before that hearing was Alan
Greenspan, arguably one of the
key architects of the economic crisis, who stated in part:
“…The second bonus (in accelerating the
influx of skilled immigrant workers) would address the increasing concentration
of income in this country. Greatly expanding our quotas for the highly skilled
would lower wage premiums of skilled over lesser skilled. Skill shortages in
America exist because we are shielding our skilled labor force from world
competition. Quotas have been substituted for the wage pricing mechanism. In
the process, we have created a privileged elite whose incomes are being
supported at non-competitively high levels by immigration quotas on skilled
professionals. Eliminating such restrictions would reduce at least some of our
income inequality.”
Clearly Greenspan demonstrated
unmitigated chutzpah, referring to skilled Americans as the “privileged
elite!” His infuriating goal of
reducing skill-based income inequality is nothing short of anti-American in
both ways of interpreting that statement.
It flies in the face of the American dream and would serve to pull the
floor out from under American middle class workers and their families and then
sell it to the highest bidder!
The price for fencing our futures and
the future of our country and our children must be paid by the politicians who
are engaged in this theft! They should
be made to pay for it with their careers- the careers that they are so
determined to keep that they are willing to do irreparable damage to their
fellow Americans and the United States itself!
We should be holding a place open for
them on the unemployment line that they have forced so many of those they were
elected to represent to stand on!
Of course, they should be made to stand
on the back of that line!
