Hill-Romney and vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan had not begun receiving
intelligence briefings similar to those the president and vice president
receives —a courtesy usually extended the opposing party's nominees once they
are formally nominated.
A spokesperson
for Romney said on Thursday that they had been in the process of arranging the
briefings over the last few weeks and that Romney and Ryan would begin
receiving them Monday. "For the last several weeks, the Romney campaign
has been in touch with the intelligence community to arrange intelligence
briefings for Gov. Romney and Rep. Ryan, consistent with tradition,"
Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said in an email to The
Hill.
"They
will begin next week and, beyond that, we will have no further comment."
