OBAMA'S BROKEN PROMISE "It's Not A Tax"

The Supreme Court has had their say. But in November, the American people will have the final word on ObamaCare. So it's worth remembering that the majority of Americans disapprove of the law--and that Republicans are enthusiastic to repeal it. That was crystal clear yesterday as the ruling and our message have already galvanized greater support for Gov. Romney's candidacy. In the 24 hours since the Court's decision, Americans made over 47,000 online donations for a total of over $4.6 million to Romney Victory, the joint fundraising effort of the RNC and the Romney campaign. The opposition to ObamaCare extends far and wide, including independents and key constituencies in swing states. See RNC Political Director Rick Wiley's memo from yesterday on the political implications of ObamaCare on the election. As Rick writes, the polling shows ObamaCare is a "toxic political asset" for the president. President Obama stands for a government takeover of health care. Republicans and Mitt Romney stand with the American people in calling for full repeal and for the pursuit of market-based, commonsense reforms. As Chairman Priebus said, this decision "sets the stakes for the November election." Republicans spent Thursday making sure all Americans heard that message. Our video "The Final Verdict" clearly lays out the decision voters face on Election Day. Our website, PeoplevObamacare.com, keeps voters up-to-date with the latest news and research and offers them opportunities to join with the GOP as we work to elect Gov. Romney. By noon yesterday, the coordinated Republican hashtag, #FullRepeal, was trending on Twitter. Even after ObamaCare has left the headlines, it will remain a potent issue because it represents broken promises to the American people: President Obama promised to fix the economy. He lost focus with ObamaCare, which ultimately hurts the economy. He promised to create jobs. ObamaCare makes job creation more difficult. He promised to cut the deficit in half. ObamaCare adds to the deficit. He promised to cut health care costs. Health care premium prices continue to rise. He promised Americans they could keep their current insurance plans. The CBO says as many as 20 million Americans could lose theirs. The list goes on. But what Americans realize is that ObamaCare in practice looks nothing like what the president promised. At a time of high unemployment and overall economic instability, the last thing America needed was a law that undermined growth and job creation. ObamaCare represents exactly that. And while Americans understand that our health care system needs reform, they do not want government bureaucrats making their health care decisions. ObamaCare allows for that. The Supreme Court declared the law constitutional, but it did not declare it good policy. That's for the American people to decide in November. All indications suggest the people will vote for full repeal. Republicans stand with them. ###
