The Truth? Cardon Doesn't
Own and Has Never Owned Company Depicted In Ad!
Phoenix, Arizona - Friday, Congressman
Jeff Flake's distortion-filled campaign for the United States Senate did what
previously seemed impossible: They sunk lower than ever before when it comes to
lying about successful businessman and jobs creator Wil Cardon.
In a fiction-filled video headlined "Wil Cardon Doctors The
Truth," -- a video wrongly accusing the Cardon campaign of "desperate
lies" -- the Flake team erroneously claims that "Wil Cardon failed to
file his insurance company's income taxes forcing the IRS to revoke the
company's tax status."
The truth? Wil Cardon has
never held an ownership interest in Eagle Gate Insurance Ltd., the company
identified in the video. Cardon has never invested a dollar in Eagle Gate. Nor
has Cardon ever had anything to do with paying the company's income taxes or
its IRS filings.
"Since Day One, the
Flake campaign has lied about Wil, his business record and his conservative
credentials, but this is a new low," said Alyssa Pivirotto, spokeswoman
for the Cardon campaign. "To simply make up facts and accuse Wil of
failure to file income taxes -- a crime -- is beyond shameful."
"The Flake campaign
needs to apologize for wrongly accusing Wil of violating the law. Slandering
people is not conduct becoming a U.S. Senator, though this sort of utter lie is
consistent with what we've seen from a career politician Arizona voters
absolutely should not trust."
The video also falsely
accuses Cardon of favoring earmark spending and of questioning Barack Obama's
qualifications to hold the office of President.
"We get it,"
said Pivirotto. "When reality isn't in their favor, the Flake campaign
will resort to doctoring facts. They'll lie and say Wil supports earmarks when
he doesn't. They'll lie and call Wil a 'birther' when he isn't. And they'll
even manufacture facts about Wil's business career. I'll say it again. This is
a lie -- one the Flake campaign needs to retract immediately."
