Happy New Year! In this first Weekly Republican Address of 2012, Rep. Nan Hayworth (R-NY) discusses the Republican Plan for America’s Job Creators which “is designed to empower small businesses and get government out of their way.” Rep. Hayworth notes the House passed nearly 30 bipartisan jobs bills in 2011 that remain stuck in the Democratic-controlled Senate -- and “more jobs bills are in the works.” Watch this week's address and learn more below:
Highlights from Rep. Hayworth's Address on GOP Jobs Bills & Full-Year Payroll Tax Relief Extension:
  • “There are nearly 30 jobs bills passed by the House with support from both Republicans and Democrats that are awaiting action in the Democratic-run Senate,” said Rep. Hayworth. “We are hopeful that President Obama, in his State of the Union Address, will express a willingness to work with Republicans to enact all of these jobs bills.” You can find the full list here and find more information on our jobs plan on jobs.GOP.gov. • Rep. Hayworth is one of the negotiators working to finish a year-long extension of the payroll tax break. As she noted, “the Republican-led House has passed a full year extension of the payroll tax holiday” but “the Senate, controlled by the president's own party, has not.” [READ MORE]
  • “Finding work in this economy remains a struggle,” said Rep. Hayworth. And for those fortunate enough to find a new job, the Obama administration’s policies are driving up costs for working families - on health care, energy, and more - faster than wages are rising. [READ MORE]
  • “Unemployment has now been above eight percent for 35 straight months,” said Rep. Hayworth, “the longest such stretch since the Great Depression.” In fact, the unemployment rate has averaged 9.4 percent and the economy has lost more than 600,000 jobs since the ‘stimulus’ spending bill was enacted. • “In the coming weeks, the House will consider job-creating proposals to reduce unnecessary and burdensome regulations, and repair and improve America’s roads and bridges,” said Rep. Hayworth.
