It was very interesting to watch the filming of this segment of C-Span's "The Contender" series. It is the only one so far that has been filmed with a live audience. (as opposed to dead, this statement has always been "Ooops" I can't think of the word I want to use.) Got it! Verses a photo still of an audience..be ###

If history had been different, Republican Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona might have faced off with President John F. Kennedy in the 1964 campaign. Although ambivalent about running for president after JFK’s assassination, Goldwater was eventually persuaded by conservative activists to take up his party’s mantle.
Goldwater lost in a landslide to President Lyndon B. Johnson, but he managed to change political history along the way. He is one of the 14 candidates featured in C-SPAN’s weekly series “The Contenders,” - this week live from the Goldwater Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.
Joining us on the program to discuss Goldwater and his ideas, as well as the politics, culture, history, and relevance of the time period are:
Rick Perlstein, Author of ``Before the Storm: Barry Goldwater and the Unmaking of the American Consensus”
Darcy Olsen, President and CEO of the Goldwater Institute
In addition to taking viewer calls, our guests will answer questions from a LIVE studio audience at the Goldwater Institute.
For more information on the series and our Contenders, go to www.c-span.org/thecontenders where you’ll find videos, biographical information, election results, helpful links, and more on each of the 14 figures featured in the series.Goldwater Institute

Many thanks to everyone who turned out at the Goldwater Institute tonight for a live C-SPAN
