ON THE TEXAS BORDER..
Accusation: Governor Rick Perry soft on immigration..because he signed a bill allowing in state tuition for immigrants.. The federal government requires states provide an education from First through Twelfth grade. There is no requirement to ask for a passport, green card, or proof of citizenship. SO? What is a state supposed to do provide the education opportunity until the they graduate from high school, then say sorry we are going to have to treat you like you never lived in our state and charge you out of state tuition. It's not a logical position for a state to take. After all the student will be paying their own tuition. The MSM and the candidates who keep dissing Perry are ignoring the facts..
Fact:
Texas is paying border officers overtime to stretch their training and abilities further. We’ve added state-of-the-art aviation assets, including helicopters, and advanced communications and tactical equipment.

“The state also has established Joint Operation and Intelligence Centers in each Border Patrol Sector and created quick-response units – like Trooper Strike Teams and Texas Ranger Recon Teams – that can effectively counter criminal activity in even the most remote areas of the border region.

Perry added a bill prohibiting Sanctuary Cities as an emergency item in the regular session and added it to the call during the special session,

“No illegal immigrant in the state of Texas has received a handout for a free college education,” Williams told the crowd.
Fact:
Perry supported his Congressmen and Senators when they passed TEC 54.052(a)(3), the students that this applies to are only one percent of total enrollment in Texas public universities; community, technical, and state colleges; and public health-related institutions.

Let’s look at the tuition question first. They are not anchor babies. They have entered the country with their parents legally. Their parents came to the country on visas that were generally education or religious in nature. The visas expired. The children meanwhile had attended and graduated from Texas public schools. They had legally applied for citizenship.

Almost unanimously “All but four” Texas Congressmen and Senators concluded that it was “a Texas thing.”On that subject, they were 100% correct. It is a decision that should be made on the state level. They made it.
