American President
Obama who won the Nobel Peace Prize shortly after he took office before he
screwed up the economy and made promises he wouldn't keep. He was awarded the
Nobel Peace prize.
We still
have troops in Iraq and Afghanistan now he has jumped into a tribal war in
Africa. Wages covert war on Pakistan, conducts drone attacks on
Yemen and Somalia, bombards Libya, and positions for a wider confrontation with
Iran and Syria, Nobel Peace Prize Laurette President Obama has now quietly,
without much fanfare, sent
100 US troops to help Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni crush rebels
threatening his 25 year dictatorship.
In what is essentially a “reverse-Libyan-style” intervention, the US is
sending troops to crush, not assist rebels rising up against their despotic
ruler. Ironically, just
as with Libya’s rebels, Uganda’s rebels are also listed as a foreign
terrorist organization by the US State Department. Instead of the corporate-financier
contrived International Criminal Court issuing fictitious warrants for
Uganda’s head of state, as was done with Qaddafi in Libya, it is the Ugandan
rebel leader, Joseph Kony, who is being targeted.
Is it like a gold medal, can they ask for it back?
Now that he
hasn't lived up to the expectations of the committee
“The Norwegian Nobel
Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to
President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen
international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has
attached special importance to Obama’s vision of and work for a world without
nuclear weapons. Obama has as President created a new climate in international
politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis
on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can
play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even
the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from
nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control
negotiations. Thanks to Obama’s initiative, the USA is now playing a more
constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is
confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened. Only very rarely
has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and
given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the
concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values
and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population. For
108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that
international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world’s
leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama’s appeal that “Now is the time
for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to
global challenges.” Oslo, October 9, 2009
According to the committee the top five reasons were..
While the debate about
whether this is preemptive or not rages on, here are the top 5 reasons it makes
perfect sense that our President Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize:
5. Awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize shows the United
States is moving towards the betterment of the world
4. Barack Obama has spent his life in the promotion of
individual responsibility
3. Through his speeches and ability to unite a nation to
elect the first Black president, he has proven to the international community
that his larger agenda is one of peace
2. The Nobel Prize committee recognizes that this is a
prize awarded to someone with POTENTIAL; it does not necessarily mean that the
person must have accomplished and solved the crises for which he fights: this
is a private prize awarded to someone who a small committee deems as deserving.
Based on Barack Obama’s international appeal and goodwill, his agenda towards
foreign policy and peaceful international diplomacy, he is the next harbinger
of international peace.
1. He is cleaning up Bush’s mess. After 8 years of the
Bush Doctrine, Obama represents the antithesis of those ideals and, therefore,
has become a symbol for hope and change the world over.
