LOCATION OF FIRES BASTROP, TEXAS

Keep in mind that this is a hilly area with trees everywhere you look. The Loblolly Pine trees are the furthermost western extension of the Piney Woods of East Texas and they have adapted over the years to the much dryer climate of the area. If these don't survive the fires, I am afraid it may be the end of the pine trees in this area. Texas has lost much and many of the residents of Bastrop have lost everything they had short of their lives and these fires are still burning.
