Yavapai County fair canceled
Racetrack problems cause first missed fair since WWII

 Local 4-H club leader Rosie Darby was planning to hand out Yavapai County Fair entry forms to her club members Monday.
Instead, she now will have to tell her approximately 115 Chino Valley Breakaway Latigos 4-H Club members that the fair has been canceled.

PHOENIX (AP) — The Arizona Attorney General's Office is reviewing an investigation into the way a Phoenix councilman used his city email account.
The Arizona Republic reports Thursday (http://bit.ly/qj3EWw) that the Attorney General's Office will determine whether any state laws were violated when Councilman Sal DiCiccio sent an electronic newsletter from his district email account on June 1.

Phoenix Soldiers Foundation, Chris Siedentop. The foundation has created the ultimate retreat for a special troop and their family. For 2011 they selected a 26 year old, Army Veteran, who lost his arm while serving in Iraq. The family will be picked up in a limousine, and will spend 5 days in a million dollar home, complete with private chef and massage therapist. New sponsors are coming on every day. The Bondurant School has a donated a Shifter Kart Class, and laps around the track in a ZR1 Corvette, piloted by a professional driver. The soldier is an avid fisherman, and the "Hookup" has donated a private boat and guide to take the soldier fishing. The soldiers wife and young daughter will have a complete makeover at the Troon Salon.
The Foundation is looking for local businesses to donate additional services, or gift cards to IPIC Theaters, any major grocery stores, Bass Pro Shops, and the Disney Store.

2 Phoenix officers shot in confrontation

A shootout between two Phoenix police officers and a man they were pursuing left all three wounded Thursday morning. The two officers were treated at hospitals and have since been released, authorities said in the afternoon.
The shooting at around 10 a.m. near 59th Avenue and Thomas Road remained under investigation, and police spokesman said details were sketchy.

A 36-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Thursday after officials said he made several threats to kill Sheriff Joe Arpaio, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
A sheriff's spokesman said Raul Rentiera Rivera called 911 twice on Friday and told the dispatcher he'd kill Arpaio "because he's a racist."

Chandler police arrest 3 in pot bust involving almost $100,000

Chandler police arrested two men from Jamaica and one other man Tuesday during a sting involving 260 pounds of marijuana and nearly $100,000 in cash.
Phillip Timoll, 36, Bobby Jones, 34, and Wayne Gayle, 46, were taken into custody after arranging a deal with police informants who were posing as marijuana suppliers.

Ex-Tucson judge suspended over sex harassment
