Ranchers: Beefed-Up Security Just A Start......
First Wave Of National Guard Troops Deployed Monday
PHOENIX -- The first 30 of more than 500 National Guard troops began their mission along the Arizona-Mexico Border Monday under President Barack Obama's plan to beef up security at the border.
The border debate is a hot topic that's brought up every day among those who can see the fence from their back yards, rancher near the border said.
Those ranchers who live near the border said they think it's a good start, but that even when all 500 troops are at the border it still won't be enough.
"It's a big game of checkers and we need to put on the full court press," said Arizona Cattleman's Association spokesman Patrick Bray.
Bray might use board games as an analogy, but what he's seen along the Arizona-Mexico border is no joke.
"This is serious; we lost an American life, one of our ranchers," Bray said.
