WTF? CONGRESS
Writing from my hotel room in Washington DC after a very long day as a volunteer for the Tea Party Patriots and Freedom Works the day's event from my point of view, I witnessed an historical event the 912 march on DC. People from all across America at their own expense came by car, bus, and plane to gather and protest a government on several different issues. Healthcare, economy, spending, bailouts, stimulus, and cash for clunkers they spoke with one voice, the government is broke and we need to take back our country. Opinions were that this Administration believes in Marxism and is trying as fast as possible to implement socialist policies and we don't want to be a socialist nation. Veterans commented I fought a war to protect and defend the Constitution to keep my country free and a land of liberty that's the country I want my children or grandchildren to live in.
Volunteers were to arrive at 8A.M. the marchers were due to start arriving at 9 A.M. when we arrived marchers were already there and raring to go. The start of the march was at corner of 13th St and Pennsylvania Ave. Marching down Pennsylvania Ave. to the Capital 13 blocks. They started marching at 10 A.M. A meter had been set up two blocks from start of march after one hour meter had registered over 450,000 had passed that site. We were texting information back and forth to and from volunteers when I sent that message I got one back of Million point two {$ 1.2 million} by the time we got to the Capital we were getting reports of {$1.5 million}. By one o'clock there were reports roads were being closed and buses headed for march were having hard time getting to site. Fox was reporting tens of thousands CNN and ABC were reporting two million and above. When I got to the Fox reporting area Griff Jenkins who I met at a Tea Party stop in Flagstaff, AZ. jumped off the stage and gave me a hug and said great you made it. I had told him I was going to DC and he had said good, I'll see you there. I was surprised after the thousands of people he has met across the country reporting on the Tea Party activities that he remembered me. After a long arduous march when we reached the Capital the speakers and entertainers were all well known and delivered a message of patriotism, smaller government, less spending and the importance of following the Constitution and the Rule of Law. The over whelming message from the speakers and the audience participation was we want Freedom, Liberty and we don't like the change toward socialism.
What impressed me was the number of young adults also there wasn't any one race, economic or ethnic background you had all ages, races, ethnic groups and mobility, some were in wheelchairs that came together as Americans who love their country, cherish liberty, and believe in the Constitution and Rule of Law.
From just below the Capital steps a sea of people and signs could be seen as far as the {over a mile} Washington Monument. People were polite and made an effort to put trash in designated trash bins. I feel very fortunate to have been a part of this historical event.
