Pressure rises for Sanford to resign Republicans in House eye impeachment

State Republican House members in South Carolina agreed Saturday to ask beleaguered Republican Gov. Mark Sanford to resign and are preparing a bill of impeachment in case he refuses, leading Republican lawmakers told The Washington Times.

The decision to send Mr. Sanford a letter from the House Republican caucus asking for his resignation came on the last day of an annual House Republican retreat attended by 56 of the 73 sitting Republican House members. "The consensus was for the governor to resign, and nobody in the room said the governor should not resign," House Speaker Pro Tem Harry Cato told The Times after the caucus met. ....more http://washingtontimes.com/


Incredulous is the only way to describe the actions taken by the Republican Party of South Carolina on Governor Sanford having an affair. Asking him to resign, voting for impeachment? Ted Kennedy was drunk and conniving, allowing a young woman to drown, Bill Clinton had a blow job in the oval office both Democrats, both re-elected. When will the Republicans quit being sanctimonious and throwing their own under the bus? At least the Democrats stand by their own right or wrong. It may be time for the Republicans to take a page out of the democratic playbook
